Darren Grimes is a right-wing media commentator, Reform councillor in County Durham, and former Brexit campaigner. He set up the BeLeave campaign during the 2016 referendum, through which Vote Leave channelled £675k to data firm AggregateIQ in excess of its legal spending limit, resulting in Grimes being fined £20,000 by the Electoral Commission. He subsequently presented on GB News, during which time he was accused of sexual misconduct, and has been associated with the Institute of Economic Affairs and Turning Point UK. In November 2024, he called for Donald Trump to "invade" Britain and "make us the 51st state of the US of A". He left GB News to stand successfully as a Reform councillor, since when he has been investigated over the use of AI footage and accused of inciting racism.
