Jordan Peterson

Person

Jordan Peterson is a Canadian psychologist, author and online commentator who co-founded the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship with Paul Marshall, Philippa Stroud and Legatum. DeSmog has described him as a "global anti-net zero power broker", using ARC to shift international conservative opinion against climate action; at the 2023 ARC conference he claimed that "we do not believe that humanity is necessarily and inevitably teetering on the brink of apocalyptic disaster", while at the 2025 conference the event had, in DeSmog's assessment, moved to "full-blown climate denial". He is a former professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, where he rose to prominence through his opposition to Canadian transgender rights legislation, and has built a social media following of over 8.6 million YouTube subscribers. In October 2024, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged under oath that Peterson was funded by Russian state-owned media outlet RT; Peterson threatened legal action in response.
