Leave.EU

Campaign group

Leave.EU was a pro-Brexit campaign group co-founded by Arron Banks and Richard Tice in 2015, with Nigel Farage's backing. Unlike the official Vote Leave campaign, Leave.EU was not designated as the official leave campaign for the 2016 referendum. It was fined £70,000 by the Electoral Commission for multiple breaches of electoral law, including failing to accurately report at least £77,380 in campaign spending; its chief executive Liz Bilney was referred to the Metropolitan Police for suspected criminal offences. The campaign was also fined £60,000 by the Information Commissioner's Office for sending over a million emails to Leave.EU subscribers containing unsolicited marketing material for Banks's GoSkippy insurance company. The ICO's Information Commissioner described finding "a disturbing disregard for voters' personal privacy by players across the political campaigning eco-system"; a finding that specifically included Leave.EU.
