Person

Kathryn Porter is an energy consultant and founder of Watt-Logic. She describes herself as working with "clients with conventional energy assets including gas-fired power stations, gas storage, upstream oil and gas production and LNG." She has written multiple reports for the Global Warming Policy Foundation and the Institute of Economic Affairs, including a February 2026 IEA paper arguing that oil and gas extractors "are not the enemy" and endorsing continued extraction, which she also discussed at a live IEA debate on "Why Net Zero is Failing in Britain". She is a regular commentator on GB News. In January 2026, Conservative shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho endorsed and publicly launched a Porter report claiming Britain's net zero plans were leading to "economic ruin"; the LSE's Grantham Research Institute said the report provided "a misleading picture of power generation". Porter has also appeared on the BBC's Today programme without her fossil fuel industry clients being disclosed.
