Claire Coutinho
PersonClaire Coutinho is the Conservative MP for East Surrey and shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. She served as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero under Rishi Sunak from 2023 to 2024, having previously worked as a senior fellow at Policy Exchange, a think tank funded by oil companies that lobbied for laws targeting climate protesters. While in post she warned against a "net zero leviathan" crushing the economy. In opposition she has backed repealing the Climate Change Act, and endorsed anti-net zero reports produced by authors with ties to the fossil fuel industry and climate science denial groups.
