Neil Record
PersonNeil Record is a currency trader who founded Record Currency Management and floated it on the London Stock Exchange in 2007, reportedly bringing him £170 million. He is chair of Net Zero Watch, the campaigning arm of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, and a Life Vice President and former Chair of the IEA Board of Trustees. In 2014, DeSmog revealed that Record was one of the GWPF's principal funders, having donated at least £100,000 to the group. He has written in The Telegraph that it is "debatable in detail" whether burning fossil fuels causes global warming. He donated £5,000 to Steve Baker in early 2022 for consultancy services for the Covid Recovery Group, while Baker was an unpaid trustee of Net Zero Watch, and a further £10,000 in January 2023 after Baker had stepped down from that role to become a government minister. He also donated £10,000 to Kemi Badenoch's 2024 Conservative leadership campaign, which Byline Times reported was run from his home. He is also a trustee of the Pharos Foundation, a fellowship programme supporting academics in what it describes as "civilisational or heterodox research".
