Net Zero Watch

Campaign group

Net Zero Watch (NZW) is a campaign group launched in October 2021 by the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF), operating from the same address at 55 Tufton Street, Westminster. It describes itself as highlighting "the serious implications of expensive and poorly considered climate change policies" and seeking to "give you a clear view of the reality of climate and energy policies". Critics describe it as the campaigning arm of "the UK's most prominent climate science denial group", while Bob Ward of the LSE Grantham Research Institute said it is "acting against the best interests of the British households and businesses by promoting climate change denial" and is "part of a campaign to make the UK more dependent on fossil fuel markets that are controlled by the United States". Its board of directors includes Neil Record (chairman), David Frost, and formerly Andrea Jenkyns. In February 2026, DeSmog reported that NZW held a fundraising event in New York hosted by the American Friends of the GWPF - a US group that has received funding from oil interests linked to the Koch dynasty and the Scaife Foundation - where its director Andrew Montford praised Trump's energy policies and appealed to the audience for financial support. At the same event, former Conservative MP Steve Baker claimed partial credit for Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch's abandonment of net zero, saying "I've helped her and Claire Coutinho adopt it".
