In May 2020, private emails [revealed](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/mar/24/michael-gove-private-emails-ppe-deals-tory-linked-firms) by the Guardian showed that Gove had directed Conservative peer Michelle Mone to contact Agnew - then a Cabinet Office minister responsible for procurement - "urgently" about a PPE supply offer, using private rather than government email addresses. PPE Medpro subsequently received contracts worth £203m after being fast-tracked through the VIP procurement lane.
